The Bloody Long Walk is a 35-kilometre challenge owned and operated by the Mito Foundation. Walk, jog or run and enjoy spectacular scenery whilst raising vital funds to help find cures for mitochondrial disease (mito).
Mito is a debilitating and potentially fatal genetic disorder that impairs the body's ability to convert food into the energy needed to power muscles and major organs; one in 200 people are at risk of developing mito. One Australian child born each week suffers a severe or life-threatening form of mito making it the second most commonly diagnosed serious genetic disease after cystic fibrosis.
Start your walk at the base of the Adelaide Hills wine-growing region with its spectacular views, and continue your route passing the Botanic Gardens and the Zoo. Follow the River Torrens to meet the ocean at Henley Beach and walk along the stunning coastline down to Glenelg.
Enjoy the 35-kilometre challenge at your own pace, be it a walk, jog or run, knowing that every step is one step closer to finding a cure for mito! Fully supported course with checkpoints and refreshments.
